During the spring 2022 I created a step by step guide on how to fly a 100km paragliding flight from Laragne-Montéglin, France. I called it – Chabre Challenge. Over the first summer of this guide being available I received overwhelmingly positive reviews from the pilots who tried to fly the route and found it motivating to keep trying and do the Chabre Challenge.

Many of you attempted to fly and reached out to me saying that you really enjoyed the content and the format, but that it was too little too short.

This is why, I decided to create a book with 9 flight plans. From 25 km routes to a 150 km long distance flying, with detailed explanation of the local weather systems and how they interact with each other. This book is meant as a guide to help you navigate the mountains around Chabre, find the convergence zones an the best triggers for your flying in this area. I hope it will help you to understand XC flying more espesially here in Chabre.  The Guide to Chabre is 140 pages long.

My very first paragliding flight from Chabre was a 193 km FAI triangle! It nearly doubled the site record that was standing for 10 years. I couldn’t believe how diverse and beautiful this place is.  A year later I moved to live here just 20 minutes north in a town called Serres.

The weather systems, the terrain, the limestone cliffs, the high cloud base with incredibly large and countless landing options are just a few things that make Chabre my favorite place to fly.

It’s a place for all levels of pilots, it offers some  semi flat land flying some of medium altitude mountains and not too far away you get to play with, what I like to call – “The Big boys” better known as the French Alps.

This guide has a flight route for all levels of pilots from aspiring cross country pilots to the ones who are looking to break their 100-150 km mark.
