A Place to stay

We like to stay at the Colonels Resort. The accommodations is very comfortable, quite and the food they offer is just amazing. We ate two times a day at their restaurant every day during our stay and non of us had any issues with the “Delhi Belly”. The location is about 7 minute taxi ride from the official Landing Zone and is on the way up to take-off. We can help with arranging the accommodation at the Colonel’s resort for you.

The taxi drivers are going to wait for you at the airport, make sure you agree on the price before setting your foot in the car. It should be between 2000 – 2500 Rs ₹ (22 – 27 euro)

For local communication you can get an E-Sim card before your arrival in India, this way it will be ready to go once you touch down. I find that this one worked really well. Do your own re-search to make sure you get the best possible option.

FAQ

Q: Who is it for?

A: For independent pilots. The flying around Bir Billing technically is not complex. Making a mistake, dough, can be costly. As we fly in high altitude with high mountains around, landing on top or side of one of them, often means you cannot walk down. Which means helicopter rescue will be needed, if not possible to re-launch. It is available, but it can take a day or more.

Q: What about tracking?

A: Satellite tracking is a must. I will not accept pilots in the course without Live Satellite tracking. Mobile coverage is not available in all of the area where we will fly, to be able to find you in case of emergency Satellite tracking will be the difference between life or death – literally.

Q: Do I need to hike the mountains?

A: This is optional if you preferer. We will be using taxis to take-off, so no need for hiking.

Q: Is this a Vol Bivouac Trip?

A: No. But if you are interested in doing so and are prepared for it accordingly then we will be able to support you from Bir. As your emergency response team as well as helping with planning and preparation.
